Yoga at the Algarve Surf & Yoga Retreat
Yoga is many things to many different people.
For us it’s about
sharing peace and tranquillity and centering the mind, body and soul, harnessing our concentration, focusing on our surfing and quelling
negative thoughts and the associated chatter of the subconscious
mind.
Why yoga?
With Yoga, we become more flexible in our body and more at peace in our
mind. When surfing and Yoga are combined as a lifestyle, we achieve
an amazing level of strength, flexibility and confidence. We experience
a natural high and a calm, yet purposeful outlook.
What we teach
Our Yoga classes are modelled off the Sivananda Yogic teachings and
the 12 basic postures. Classic Yoga from a profound lineage.
These asanas are considered by the
founder, Swami Vishnu Dvandva, as the best combination for overall health
and well being. Class sessions run twice daily and times are generally
arranged the day before, fitting around the activities of the day.
Typically a one hour class in the early morning and at sunset .

Where we teach
We have our own Yoga platform at the Algarve Surf & Yoga Retreat and divide yoga practice between the local beaches and at our camp, depending on weather, tides and group consensus.
Fresh ocean air, regular stretching and steady postures and proper breathing combined with surfing and other outdoor activities, mean that a stay with us will not only be a relaxing and healthy one but can set the foundation for your own yoga practice in the future.

We very much encourage and welcome outside yoga teachers looking to find a special place to conduct their own classes and bring their own groups for yoga holidays and coastal retreat stays.We can customise your stay providing for as little or as much involvement from us as you require.
